Change IT ChangeIT is a small, simple program for changing your wallpaper in Windows. As a programmer, I spend a lot of time at my computer, and while I have in the past just had a static picture as my wallpaper, I do sometimes change it. With lots of pictures to choose from, it was becoming a bother to go through the process of constantly changing the wallpaper. So I looked at several options to do this automatically. Windows, of course, does have the option that allows one to choose your wallpaper, and it works just fine, takes a little bit of time and is a pain to change. Several programs on the market are available that also will take a bunch of pictures and display them as your wallpaper. Some are "ok" and some are just way too complicated. Others take up so much resources that it slows the computer down. I tried serveral of the programs offered, but nothing matched what I was looking for. All I wanted was a simple program that would take a folder of pictures and display those as my wallpaper. After looking into what was availabe, I made a small program that would just take a few of my favorite pictures and rotate these as my wallpaper. But like most of the programs that are available to do that, it was just not enough. So I began to enhance this little program so that I could have different "sets" of pictures scheduled at different times of the day. Now this is more of whatI was looking for. Now I can set up my "sets" and have them displayed when I want. I could set them up for any amount of delay and also have them randomly selected if I wanted. Another problem was the pictures. While some pictures look ok as wallpaper, others just are not the correct format and end up showing an area of the picture that is of little interest. So I created a way in which the pictures (each picture) can be cropped and scaled to look better on the screen. I did not what to actually edit the original picture, so instead the program allows one to save the crop and scale settings for the picture and applies these settings to a temporary copy so the scaling and cropping can be changed anytime as the original is never actually touched. Each folder or "set" maintains its own settings for the pictures, so you can have one picture in one folder that has a different setting that the same picture located in another folder or set. Some friends of mine saw the changing of my wallpaper and were also looking for the same thing. They too had looked around to find something and had settled for what they found. But were not happy with what they ended up with. So started the release of ChangeIT. And now here it is for anyone that is interested. ChangeIT spends most of its time just sitting in your system tray and changing your wallpaper. You can manually change the "sets" of pictures depending on your mood, or you can set up to 5 schedules to change your wallpaper sets. You can set the delay that the changes happen and choose between random selection of your pictures in the set or display them sequentially. You can also set up and "emergency" picture, that will display as your wallpaper if you close the program. The program is free to try and there are no limitations on the program. However, the unregistered program will display advertisements on your wallpaper at random times.
